Hindsight at The Showroom

I think I am going to have to officially say that this blog will be updated once a week. Life has been insane lately and I don't think I can post as often as I wanted to initially. If I can post another post, then rock on, but I don't want to get your hopes up. ;]

Any who, I have two huge things to review, but at the moment, only have time to review one. This past Friday night, I went to The Showroom at the Hub-Bub to see Hindsight in concert. The singer and one of the guitarists, Justin, is a good friend of mine and I wanted to show my support. Now, it had been a while since I had seen them play, or heard any of their music for that matter. These guys are incredible.

I don't want this blog to be solely for advertising and reviewing things, but I have to list some points about the group. These guys have quite a stage presence: Justin wails on the microphone and his guitar like it is going out of style, Matt, on the other guitar, has a very unique voice and style (he sang a few songs) that is very blues-y to me, and he gets into jumping around while he is jamming some solos, Robbie, on drums, was a constant source of energy, never faltering in his sporadic beats, and finally, Will, on bass, showed some real skill, which was amazing seeing as he was one of two members of the opening band, Brandywine, who were also rocking, even with just two members. That means he played for like...2 hours straight. Sometimes, the bass gets buried amongst the other instruments; I'm so glad this wasn't the case here.

Hindsight played everything from "Stand By Me" to "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5. "Creeper" was Justin's last song, because of the long and high notes that Justin had to hold. He was amazing! There were some original songs in the mix, too. I encourage you to check out their MySpace page to hear them for yourself. (http://www.myspace.com/hindsighttheband)

The recorded their performance on Justin's camera. Once they get that video up, I'll post a link so you all can see the awesomeness that I witnessed!

That is all I have for now. I also attended the Hub-Bub's BYOA on Saturday night. I took tons of pictures and look forward to getting them uploaded here, hopefully within the next couple days. The event was a HUGE hit and was a blast. I'm so glad Spartanburg's artistic community is growing, whether it be the presence of galleries or up-and-coming bands making debuts. Get out there and experience Spartanburg culture, people!

EDIT: I'd also like to give props to the Spartanburg Downtown Association. They have a rocking website up at www.downtownspartanburg.com. Check it out! I can see this site doing a lot for the area in the ways of providing information on growth and events for more people. It is exciting!
